The African Diaspora Culture Center (ADCC) is an "Open Door of Return" for the children of Africa that are living outside of the continent of Africa around the world. This is a place of connectiveness. A place to plug into the source of Mother Africa for those whose ancestors were brought to the Americas as enslaved people, for those who sought asylum in America from wars, apartheid and other human atrocities in their homeland, and for those who sought education and economic opportunity.
The ADCC represents the depth and breadth of the African continent and its' people in a place that will RESTORE the dignity, honor and birthrite of a stolen people, RECLAIM the culture and heritage stolen from our social construct, and REUNITE the children of the formerly enslaved and displaced with their homeland. Many will never have the resources to travel to the continent, but this place will bring Africa to them in small pieces to close an open wound and solve a missing piece of the puzzle.
The ADCC will be funded through the non-profit Africa Diaspora Region Economic Community Foundation (ADREC). This Foundation will help to fund the center programs, operations and build bridges between the diaspora and the continent for business development, economic opportunity and knowledge exchange.
The ADCC's values guide our approach to foster and ensure a vibrant African Diaspora community through:
-
Strengthening the bonds with Mother Africa
-
Meaningful cultural programming and services
-
Safety and inclusion of all Diaspora African's Around the Globe
-
Collaboration through mutually beneficial partnerships
-
Fiscal responsibility
This is a place that we can call home. A place with an open door to Africa where our story begins, and where we can plug into source for renaming ceremonies, connections with the monarchy, learning native tongue of Swahili, learning of the traditions and pagentry of our homeland to create a foundation that will eventually lead to visits to the continent and investments in creating the Africa we want.
